NATIONAL SCHOOL SQUASH COMPETITION 2022-23
BROMLEY HIGH V BENENDEN
Brentwood pulled out at the last moment, so we travelled to Bromley High to play the one match against an extraordinarily strong team. Bromley High do not have their own courts but the girls playing belong to the local club and have been playing since the age of 8. The Benenden Team has only a couple of years of experience or less and this would show in the result despite their best efforts.
Marta Stewart had a walk over as Bromley High only had the 4 girls available. Grace Eynon played 4th string and performed very well losing 2-1 in games and 32-23 in points scored. Rose McLean at 3 played Aara Chima ranked 32 in the country at U13 level. Rose lost 3-0 but made some fine shots although not always fruitful.
Sophie Morland had an equally tough match which resulted in almost identical results. Scarlett Eynon at 1st string played Evie Pulford who is ranked 16 in the country at U13. Scarlett was beaten by great power and accuracy.
The difference was clear to see as the number of years on court produced a team of high quality that should do very well in the competition. Benenden will play in the plate in the new year.
