National School Squash KS5 at Sevenoaks School

29th November 1st Round

The 1st Team was weakened due to a few players not available for these matches.

We played Sevenoaks first who were a talented team. Our two debutants Jamie Barbour and Annabel Thomas were on first. This was a tough introduction to team squash but they both played well, although both lost. Annabel won her first game! Victoire Mons, Cosi Remers and Katie Chapman followed and were soundly beaten.

Gala Hermer v Katie Chapman 11-1 11-1 11-1

Carlota Hermer v Cosi Remers 11-7 11-2 11-2

Ciara Boulanger v Victoire Mons 11-1 11-3 11-2

Jessica Fleming v Jamie Barbour 11-3 11-4 11-3

Tasia Norhoraya v Annabel Thomas 5-11 11-3 11-6

The match against King’s Canterbury followed. Annabel played first and had her first victory with the best result of the day for Benenden. Jamie followed suit with an equally convincing win. The matches then became tougher. At third string Victoire won her first two games but lost the third. Cosi lost her first game but rallied and won the next two games, finding a better length. Katie had three close games losing the first to 9 points but winning the next two games to 8, good serving being the main difference.

Katie Chapman v Linda Tian 9-11 11-8 11-8

Cosi Remers v Flore Bouriez 8-11 11-5 11-8

Victoire Mons v Nika Mikhaylichenko 11-4 11-7 9-11

Jamie Barbour v Else Zhong 11-4 11-5 11-6

Annabel Thomas v Vittotia Da Cos 11-5 11-3 11-6

Sevenoaks then beat King’s Canterbury by a larger margin than they beat us. Benenden finished 2nd in the group and will play next in the New Year.
